"We would like to express a public "THANK YOU" to the Patton families and the employees of Turf Center Lawns of Spencerville. On Sunday, January 7, 1996, a record snowfall blanketed the area, overwhelming the usually capable Montgomery County and Maryland road crews. In the Cloverly neighborhood, the staff of Turf Center Lawns "rescued" a good number of us who were snowbound.
On Tuesday morning, three tractors braved Spotswood Drive, clearing the road and nearly every driveway. This kind, generous and time-consuming effort was courtesy of Bill Patton, Sr. and Bill Patton, Jr., who live in Cloverly. Bill, Jr. led the team of tractor drivers, and Bill Sr. directed the effort to clear several streets in the area and the residents' driveways.
"The Pattons' quick actions reinforced the notion that Cloverly is a true neighborhood and that neighbors still look out for one another. For the record, the first piece of County equipment reached Spotswood Drive on Thursday, January 11. Thanks again from grateful neighbors!
